His works never have any boundary in fields such as film, sculpture, video, painting, photography, dance, behavior, make-up, performance and even artificial limbs and psychiatric pathology in medical science. In a word, they use all of the means to get closer to our perception to them. The means include variation he created, sick white skin, mouth with proportion of one third to face, human face and sheep ears. To some extent, they bring us a synaesthesia of “same species”. This “similar” sick feeling and sense of deformity bring me strong visual stimulation. ——and for these deterred human image, he uses low saturation in color processing, or namely the color which brings us warmth and cordial feelings. This synaesthesia “similar to human body” makes us struggle in feeling of ambivalence where we want to get close to but flinch.

Björk Guðmundsdóttir known as Björk, also known as Matthew's wife.exhibition for her in somerest house in 2016 leaves deep impression for me. As wife of Barney, similarities of she and her husband in art concepts are: human body. They both transmit numerous human bodies with different feelings and temperament. However, she is fascinated with digital stuffs. Matthew takes medical and biological background as footstone, and he changes human body in natural direction. Bjork has electronic substance as materials, and modifies human body in cyber punk direction. It is similar to sense of near at hand and sci-fi sense for world created by Ghost in shell.​

 

General knowledge consciousness of the couple to human of“man”, “human body” and “self-awareness” influences many of my works. In my painting works, I attempt to construct, deform and recombine muscle of human body and structure to show its synaesthesia consciousness.
