NOBSON

Paul Noble is my favorite artist, and his fictional city Nobson is very attractive to me. Nobson is a world with a variety of beautiful sceneries, but which makes people feel desolate, residents are in poo shape. In his different paintings, we can see different styles of buildings, gardens, palaces and mountains like caves. These large-scale works are made of pencil on white paper, simple black and white large-scale drawing gives a strong visual impact. In his works ‘at the 45 ° angle of the three-dimensional world’ combines a lot of weird architecture and natural landscape together, this very regular style makes people feel fresh and interesting. In such a huge drawing, Paul portrayed a load of fine details, and even let Nobson become very real, people are moved by such a fictional world, but that he used poo as a local resident makes a lot of viewers very puzzled.

aul win the 2012 turner prize. Many people are very puzzled after reading his paintings: why draw a world which is desolate and full of poo? In my opinion, this choice is inseparable from his experience. I guess his name is very similar to the pronunciation of poo, which may causes deliberate attack or unintentional ridicule of some people, perhaps the negative impact generated in his childhood, coupled with his introversion and poor expression, he turned this feeling into such a painting, and also hope that more people can experience his feelings and experiences, which cannot help but let me meditate, his paintings are more like the ancient poetry, both of them are to express their emotions, to express their frustrated feeling or a desire, to some extent, this is a expression of the self-awareness.

In my works, I also like to depict a lot of details, and begin to try to draw some large-scale works like Paul, because these details appeared in a large-scale works will be particularly attractive. And for the expression of emotion, Paul's work makes me very moved, because on the contrary, they show Paul delicate emotions and character, which allows us to realize the Paul himself when appreciating these works.
